Indian Tepper: The knotting of rugs in India dates back to the Mughal Empire in the 16th century. At that time, knotting factories were built according to the Persian model. The influence of the patterns can still be seen today even though Indian rugs are very good quality, especially in new creations.
Silk pile: Silk is the finest and most supple yarn in the world and thus gives the rug a very exclusive touch. Silk is used only for very high quality rugs and gives the rug a very pleasant feel.
Silk chain: The warp is the base fabric on which the pile is knotted. The finer the warp, the sharper the pattern of the rug at the end. Only the finest rugs are knotted on silk, because with silk you can create a much tighter and finer warp than with wool. Therefore, only with real silk in the warp can you achieve knot counts of 600,000 and more knots per QM.
Hand knotted quality: Hand-knotted rugs are true works of art and, depending on the quality, require very good training and a high degree of patience. Knotting by hand makes the rugs much finer, smoother and higher quality than with other methods.
