Turkmen Tepper: Turkmen rugs are knotted by the Turkmen tribe. The Turkmen live in an area that stretches from China through Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran to Turkey. Despite the large dispersion, the Turkmen still see themselves as one people. Their rugs have also contributed to the cohesion with various traditional traditions. Afghan Tepper: Rugs and kilims have a long tradition in Afghanistan. Unlike Persian rugs, Afghan rugs are mostly geometric patterns and calmer colors. The knotting of the rugs is firm and flat pile.
